Design Thesis | Week 2.2 - Problem Definition
Problem Definition
A clearly defined design problem does the following:
It defines the problem and the parameters of the project and its direction.
It guides your arguments and inquiry.
It foretells your design process.
It demonstrates a solid record of researched thought.
It provokes the interests of colleagues, peers, clients, professors, etc.
It acknowledges the work and influence of others on your thinking and design approach.
It takes into account your assumptions, limitations, requirements, and constraints.
It demonstrates your understanding of the role of media, technology, and design as it relates to your field of inquiry.
To define your problem, you will need to determine what the research problem is and what is information is needed to solve it. It is essential to state the problem as accurately as possible and highlight the challenges that might be faced.
